A celebration of Northwest Missouri State University President Emeritus Doctor B.D. Owens and his wife Sue was held Friday on the third floor of the B-D Owens Library.

Current Northwest President Dr. John Jasinski had a conversation with Dr. Owens about his experience and memories from Northwest. Afterwards, the Sue Owens collection was unveiled, consisting of books of poetry and paintings with Owens reading from her works.

Wife of the President Emeritus, Sue Owens, says she wanted to share her talent with others.

"I always have some kind of painting going and I like to share.  The good Lord obviously gave me some talents, music which I used to teach, painting and poetry, and I like to use them.  I have a philosophy: if I had a garden and I grew tomatoes and had a bumper crop,  I'd share them.  And that's the way I feel about my poems and my paintings."

Sue Owens also adds it was good to get back to Northwest.

"But the most important thing is to see this beautiful campus again and to renew friendships with several that we knew before.  We don't get down here every year, but I'm glad we came this time."
